NEC releases Rs 31 cr for Meghalaya projects in Oct

Shillong, Nov 12: The North Eastern Council (NEC) has announced release of funds to the tune of Rs 31.37 crore under various schemes in Meghalaya during October this year.

The funds are aimed at accelerating infrastructure and development across the North‑Eastern Region.

Under NESIDS (Road), the NEC released Rs 22.9 crore to ensure smooth implementation of road connectivity works (Road) during October 2025.

The projects include upgradation of 39.59-km Borkhat-Sonapur road (Rs 17.90 crore) and construction of 110-metre bridge over Umngot river (Rs 5 crore) on Jongksha-Kharang-Diengleng-Nongjrong-Moodymmai-Wahiajer road.

During the period, the NEC also announced development projects worth Rs 8.47 crore in Meghalaya.

The projects include support of (1.5T) MRI Machine at Tura Civil Hospital (Rs 5 crore), proposal of Identified Block for providing key identified services under 30 PC component at Mawshynrut C&RD Block (Rs 94.5 lakh), North East Student Program for Awareness, Reach and Knowledge on Space (Rs 1.15 crore), Rural Eco Tourism in Garo Hills (East Garo Hills, West Garo Hills and South West Garo Hills)  -Rs 31.3 lakh, construction of Seinraij Jowai community Hall (Rs 1.04 crore) at Dulong.
