Resubelpara, Oct 7: The Election Commission of India has approved the creation of nine new polling stations under three Assembly Constituencies of North Garo Hills district.
Informing this on Tuesday, the Additional Deputy Commissioner (Election), TM G Momin said the total of polling booths in the district has gone up from 176 to 185.
New polling stations created under Kharkutta Assembly Constituency are Tingbagittim, Manchang and Chiwaki.
Under Mendipathar, Dilma Soksan, Balmikram and Damringgre were added to the constituency.
New Polling booths created under Resubelpara are Haluapara, New Babukona and Bangalmura.
The office of the Deputy Commissioner (Election), North Garo Hills district, Resubelpara on Tuesday called a meeting with representatives of all the political parties in the district to convey and update the approved list of the proposal for the rationalization of polling stations under North Garo Hills.
The ADC Election In-charge further added that the creation of new polling stations were necessitated as the number of electors in the reorganised polling stations have exceeded 1200, while in some polling stations, electors have to cross the river to reach the existing polling station.
During the meeting, issues and grievances mooted by members of the political parties were also discussed simultaneously.
