NIRF 2025: USTM sets benchmark, secures ranking for fourth consecutive year

Shillong, Sept 4: The University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) has achieved a notable milestone, ranking among India’s top 200 universities (151-200 band) for the fourth consecutive year in the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2025.

In a press statement issued by USTM on Thursday, the university said it is the first and only private university in the North East to achieve this feat.

USTM’s consistent performance in these areas has earned it a spot among the top universities in the country and the recognition is a testament to USTM’s commitment to academic excellence and its relentless pursuit of innovation, said the statement.  

“A heartfelt thank you to the Government of Meghalaya for its unflagging support since day one, the visionary leadership of Chancellor Mahbubul Hoque and Vice Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma, whose relentless efforts continue to drive USTM forward. Thank you to our dedicated faculty, supportive parents, and passionate students – your commitment and belief make all the difference,” the university said.

USTM is now aiming to reach the top 50 universities in India within the next year, with the continued support of the Government of Meghalaya.

With its dedication and hard work, USTM said it is confident of achieving this goal and further solidifying its position as a leading institution in the country.
