North Garo Hills honors statehood pioneers with call for sustainable living

Resubelpara, January 21: Rich tributes were paid to the leaders of the state who led the masses in the non-violent struggle to attain Meghalaya state during the 53rd celebrations of Meghalaya Day at Resubelpara town in North Garo Hills district with a clarion call made to protect the environment and undertake sustainable livelihoods.

Paying tribute to the founding fathers of the state, North Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, A K Singh spoke on the transformational journey of Meghalaya.

“Meghalaya has come a long way in terms of socio-economic development, the progress in education, infrastructural development and tourism. While we celebrate these achievements it is also imperative that we acknowledge our responsibility towards preserving our environment and thereby creating a sustainable livelihood for the people”, added the Deputy Commissioner.
