Shillong, Apr 2: Cabinet minister AL Hek supported Purno A Sangma’s reported statement that advocated for smaller states to be created on ethnic lines.
“Garo also wants Garoland and Khasis also wants Khasiland… Is there anything wrong to ask for small state? There is no problem at all,” Hek told reporters.
The BJP leader, however, refused to comment on the tussle between former Manipur chief minister N Biren Singh and chief minister Conrad K Sangma over the Manipur situation.
Singh accused Sangma of interfering in Manipur’s internal affairs, while referring to a reported statement by the latter’s father who “advocated for dividing the Northeast into smaller states along ethnic lines”.
He also denied any differences between the NPP and the BJP on the issue, and that he had nothing to say in the “tussle between two persons”.
