Olympic pool, 40,000-seat stadium coming to Mawkhanu

Shillong, Jan 17: Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma has informed that the government will soon construct a state-of-the-art swimming pool at Mawkhanu.

“This is going to be one of the largest such pools in the North East and that is something that I am looking forward to,” Sangma said.

He informed that the detailed project report (DPR) for the Olympic size swimming pool as well as a tennis court is ready.

Further, the CM also announced that the government will also construct a football stadium, which will be the largest in the country at Mawkhanu area.

“We are also preparing DPR for the largest football stadium, which will be in Mawkhanu. This is going to be a 40000-seater capacity stadium dedicated to football and it will be the largest stadium in the country. This is something that we are really looking forward to,” he added.
