Guwahati, May 11: KHADC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Shemborlang Rynjah made waves in West Karbi Anglong with a powerful cultural gesture: he was the lone Khasi representative to attend the traditional Thoh Lyngdoh festival, a pre-sowing seed ritual celebrated by the Khasi Kherwang tribe at Mynser on Friday.

Rynjah’s presence at the festival wasn’t just symbolic—it resonated deeply with the local community. Greeted with joy and respect, his attendance was seen as a reaffirmation of cultural ties and solidarity. “I love my own blood as I love myself,” Rynjah said, underscoring his commitment to Khasi heritage and identity.

His show of solidarity didn’t go unnoticed. Pynshngainlang Rattane, president of the United Khasi Peoples’ Organisation (UKPO) and adviser of Seng Raid Kherwang, appreciated Rynjah’s dedication. Community leaders and dignitaries—including KAAC Executive Member (EM) D. Uphing Maslai, Deputy Speaker Avijit Kro, researcher Bhogtoram Mawroh, and Avner Pariat—joined the event, lending the celebration an atmosphere of cultural unity.

The Thoh Lyngdoh ritual, still central to the spiritual life of the Khasi Kherwang people, gained renewed visibility and strength through Rynjah’s involvement. His solo presence in the Khasi region was more than a visit—it was a statement of pride and belonging.
