Shillong, Oct 24: The first spine cadaveric workshop at NEIGRIHMS concluded recently with around 40 experts from Spine Society of West Bengal and Northeast Spine Society participating at the event.
In a press statement, NEIGRIHMS said the Northeast Educational Workshop on Spine Cadaveric & CME at NEIGRIHMS which was held on October 18 and 19 featured experts from Delhi, Kolkata, Assam, Meghalaya and Manipur, who brought a wealth of experience to the table, enriching the learning experience for all participants.
Prof Animesh Mishra, Officiating Director, NEIGRIHMS inaugurated the workshop while emphasising on the importance of such initiatives in enhancing medical education and surgical skills in the North East during his inaugural speech.
The publication, “Spine Surgery: A Beginner’s Guide”, was release by Prof. Bhaskar Borgohain, Head, Department of Orthopaedics and Trauma. He added that the book is designed to assist young surgeons and Post graduate medical students by providing an introductory guide to the fundamentals of spine surgery and is expected to serve as a valuable resource for early-career professionals for safe spine surgery.
Dr. Sachlang Debbarma (Assistant Professor) mentioned that the collaboration between NEIGRIHMS and the Orthopaedic Society Shillong (OSS) reflects a strong commitment in fostering continued medical education and skill development in the region.
The two-day event combined academic sessions with hands-on training, enabling participants to learn and practice advanced techniques in spine surgery under the guidance of renowned experts. The event was organised by the Department of Orthopaedics & Trauma NEIGRIHMS and Orthopaedic Society Shillong in collaboration with the Departments of Anatomy and Neurosurgery NEIGRIHMS.
