124 appointment letters issued to candidates from Meghalaya
New Delhi/Shillong, Dec 23 (Agencies): Prime minister Narendra Modi distributed 71,000 appointment letters for jobs in various Central ministries and departments at a nationwide Rozgar Mela on Monday.
In his virtual address to the Mela, the prime minister said, “Today marks a new beginning for thousands of youth in the country. Your years of dreams have come true, years of hard work have paid off. This outgoing year of 2024 is bringing new happiness to you. I extend my heartfelt congratulations to all of you and your families”
In the past one and a half years, the union government has offered about one million permanent jobs, he said.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister’s Office in a statement said the Rozgar Mela will be held at 45 locations across the country and recruitments are taking place for central government’s ministries and departments.
Earlier, in the November episode of his monthly radio programme, Mann Ki Baat, Modi had announced that the government will host a Vikasit Bharat Young Leaders Dialogue on January 11 and 12 in Bharat Mandapam in Delhi to celebrate Youth Day.
In Shillong, over 124 appointment letters were handed over to newly-appointed recruits from Meghalaya as part of the nationwide Rozgar Mela.
Congratulating the newly-appointed candidates at a programme held at NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, union minister of state for Rural Development Kamlesh Paswan said, “I know how much hard work and dedication it takes to prepare for and secure a job. There is no greater joy than receiving the appointment letter after such efforts.”
He also commended the prime minister’s vision for Atmanirbhar Bharat and acknowledged the strides made in infrastructure development, particularly in the North East.
Reflecting on Shillong’s unique charm, Shri Paswan noted, “Since arriving here, I have been captivated by how vibrant this state is. I believe Shillong will continue to shine and flourish in the future.”
He extended Christmas wishes to all present and lauded the efforts of CRPF and other departments.
In his address, CRPF NE Sector inspector general Danesh Rana, said, “Today, 124 appointees in Meghalaya will receive their appointment letters across organisations like BSF, CRPF, Assam Rifles, Railways, SBI, and ITBP.”
Highlighting the critical role of security forces, he remarked, “CRPF, BSF, and Assam Rifles are working together to maintain law and order, counter insurgency, and safeguard borders. Together, these organisations sustain peace and contribute to national security.”
The programme also featured testimonies from appointees, who shared their journey and expressed gratitude for the opportunities provided by the government.
