Police job test results to be declared next month

1.72 lakh applied, 54,000 appeared in written tests for police jobs

Shillong, Oct 7: The much-awaited results of written tests for recruitment in state police are expected to be declared by next month, according to Dalton P Marak, Inspector General of Police (SB/Bdr) cum Chairman of Central Recruitment Board (CRB).

“The final stage of preparation to declare the result is on,” Marak told reporters on Tuesday after meeting with the candidates.

“Hopefully within this month or by next month, we should be able to declare the results and start the interview for the selected candidates,” he said.

The state police received around 1.72 lakh applications of which around 1.28 lakh took part in the physical efficiency test (PET) and around 58,000 candidates were qualified for the written tests.

However, around 54,000 candidates appeared in the written test and the tabulation of marks is currently in progress.

The firm, engaged for conducting the written test and the whole process of recruitment, is processing the result sheets.

“They are handling a huge data of around 54,000 candidates, including OMR sheets where the answers are given,” Marak said while justifying the delay in declaring the results.

The CRB chairman said all the technicalities were explained to the candidates and that “they appear to be satisfied with the explanation”.

“ If anybody has any queries or doubts or questions regarding the ongoing process of recruitment, you are welcome to come to the CRB office or meet me in the police headquarters,” Marak said.

Asserting that the recruitment process is transparent he said answer keys were published for candidates to calculate their scores.

There are three copies of OMR sheets – first copy is with the company for assessing the marks for the written test, second is kept with the CRB and third is with the candidates.

“The candidates are able to compare and see how much marks they will be scoring in the written test. They already got the marks of PET and then they are also able to calculate their own written test comparing with the answer keys published, so they would be able to know how much they will be scoring…,” he stated.
