Shillong, Mar 27: The Police Reserve will soon be shifted from Jail Road, Shillong to Tynring in New Shillong Township (NST) in order to decongest city, said cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh after a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
A 50-acre area will be allocated for the new police reserve, which will also serve as a corridor between Administrative City and Knowledge City of NST.
Assuring that the work would start immediately, he said, “The plan is to decongest the area.. the jail will also be shifted.”
Once vacated, the plots of police reserve and the jail would be considered for future use by urban affairs department, he said.
