“As working president of NPP in-charge of Garo Hills, I have already announced that I will be having meetings in every district and I will be meeting all party leaders. I have been informed that many former leaders associated with different political parties wanted to join and be part of the NPP family,” he added.

His statement came a day after two former legislators – Sengnam M Marak (ex-Rongjeng MLA) and Francis Pondit R Sangma (ex-Mawthengkut MLA, now Mawshynrut constituency) – joined the NPP.

Marcuise said that Sengnam has joined along with more than 300 supporters.

“He (Sengnam) said never in the history of Meghalaya, they have not seen such development the way Conrad Sangma government is bringing development in Garo Hills. The way they handle the people and the way developments are coming in and the way the recruitment for every vacant post is very transparent and very impressive. That is the reason why they joined the NPP in Garo Hills,” he said.

“The growth of development and the kind of institutions coming up in Garo Hills, challenges of climate change are also being addressed by the government – these issues are being tackled so meticulously by the government of Meghalaya under the leadership of Conrad K Sangma,”Marcuise added.
