Gangtok, May 26: President Droupadi Murmu arrived in Sikkim on Tuesday on a three-day visit, during which she will visit the India-China border, officials said.
She landed at Libing Helipad around 12 and was received by Governor Om Prakash Mathur and Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang.
Following her arrival, the president proceeded to Lok Bhavan, where she will stay during her visit.
Murmu will flag off ‘Pink City Runners’, vehicles for women, at Ridge Park in Gangtok later in the day. She is also scheduled to visit the Orchidarium and the Namgyal Institute of Tibetology.
On Wednesday, the president will visit Nathu La at the India-China border and attend the seventh convocation ceremony of Sikkim University at Manan Bhavan in Gangtok.
On the final day of her visit on May 28, Murmu will present the President of India’s Police Colour to the Sikkim Police and witness a parade and cultural programme at Palzor Stadium.
The state government has made elaborate security arrangements for the president’s visit, officials said. (PTI)
