Tura, Nov 27: A One-Day Seminar on “Regulation of Prices” by National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), Ministry of Chemical & Fertilizers, Government of India and Introduction of Pharma Sahi Daam was held at Working Women’s Hostel Seminar Hall, Ground Floor, Mission Compound, Tura on 26th November, 2024. The programme was organized by the Meghalaya State Price Monitoring and Resource Unit (MSPMRU).
Speaking on the occasion, Joint Director of Health Services, Garo Hills Division, Meghalaya Dr. S Boro informed that price monitoring system is not only for the retailers, chemist and druggist but consumers also have the right and should know about the regulatory price of pharmaceutical products. She also mentioned that most of us do not know about schedule and non-schedule medicines and said that the “Pharma Sahi Daam” mobile application provides buyers with instant information of prices of these medicines including alternative brands of any medicines.
Further, she cautioned about using medicines without medical prescription since it can cause health hazards and encouraged everyone to promote using medications under the supervision of a medical practitioner. She also insisted that consumers should check the rate, formulation, date of manufacture and expiry of any medicines before purchasing.
Meanwhile, Field Investigator, MSPMRU Bethsheba Nongrum gave a presentation on Regulation of Prices by National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA), and Introduction to Pharma Sahi Daam, Drug Regulatory System in India, National pharmaceutical and Pricing Authority (NPPA) Functions and Vision, Consumer Awareness, etc.
District Medical and Health Officer, West Garo Hills, Tura Dr. Jakrambal A Sangma, Project Co-ordinator, MSPMRU Mebatyngshain Siangshai, Inspector of Drugs, West Garo Hills, Tura Ashley Chibasal Ch Marak were among others who spoke on the occasion while SDM & HO, Sadar, West Garo Hills Dr. Silang R Sangma, Pharmacist, chemist, etc attended the seminar.
