Shilling Jan 7: Prof Marie Mc Andrew, Emeritus Professor of the University of Montreal, Canada, started her two-day visit to the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya (USTM) on Monday.
A thought-provoking session by Prof. Mc Andrew on “The Management of Ethnocultural Diversity in Higher Education,” during the inaugural session inspired meaningful discussions among students and faculty members. The session focused on fostering inclusivity in academia, a topic of global relevance in today’s interconnected world. Prof. Mc Andrew also engaged in an insightful interaction with USTM faculty, sharing her extensive expertise and experiences.
Prof. Gayatree Goswami, Dean of PQH School of Education, USTM, delivered the welcome address, extending a heartfelt welcome to Prof. Mc Andrew, distinguished guests, faculty members, and students from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences.
Prof. Mc Andrew was felicitated by Vice-Chancellor Prof. G.D. Sharma with a traditional Assamese gamosa and a memento as a token of gratitude and respect. In his address, the Vice-Chancellor expressed his heartfelt appreciation for Prof. Mc Andrew’s visit and her invaluable contributions to the academic community of USTM.
During her session, Prof. Mc Andrew shared reflections on her journey to India during her Ph.D. period and highlighted the scope for research in education. She emphasized the importance of ethnocultural diversity and the potential for transformative research in India’s rich and diverse context.
