Shillong, Aug 28: Cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla has asserted the need for public support in tackling the drug menace in the state.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday the minister said a collaborative approach is essential to combat drug abuse as the problem persists despite the efforts of various departments and the police.
Urging the public to work hand-in-hand with the government and relevant departments to effectively address the problem, he said it is not possible for the departments alone to reach every corner of the state, and public participation is crucial in identifying and reporting drug-related activities.
Acknowledging that drug abuse is a global challenge, and Meghalaya is not alone in fighting against it, the minister stated that with collective efforts, it is possible to make a difference.
The minister called for a multi-faceted approach, involving the departments of social welfare, education, and police, to tackle the issue.
