Reservation Policy :Chief Secretary to submit recommendations by Aug 31

Shillong, June 20: In a step further towards resolving the differences over the State Reservation Policy, chief secretary DP Wahlang will submit his recommendations on the steps to be taken by the state government on the expert committee’s report on the Policy by August 31.

“The cabinet has entrusted the task of studying the report to me and I am submitting the report by August 31,” Wahlang told reporters on Friday.

“(After studying the report of the expert committee), I will give a complete recommendation and the steps to be taken by August 31,” he added.

The state cabinet on June 13 entrusted Wahlang to study the report submitted the expert committee on the review of the state’s job policy.

Earlier, the expert committee headed by Justice (Retired) Mool Chand Garg was constituted on September 12, 2023, to review the reservation policy following demands from several quarters.

The report will be tabled in the state assembly session scheduled in September this year.
