Road mishaps leave several injured in Garo Hills

Tura, Nov 25: A string of accidents in Tura and elsewhere in Garo Hills has left several people with injuries in the last one day.

In Tura, several passengers were injured, and two students who were on a pavement sustained grievous injuries, when a local maxi cab suddenly lost control and dashed into the footpath opposite the AOC petrol station in Hawakhana on Monday. The driver is reported to have suffered a sudden seizure.

The same morning in Dalu border region, villagers alerted police after they found 49 year old Eli Ch Marak lying injured and unconscious on the Chandabui to Purakhasia road. He is suspected to have been a victim of a hit and run case.

In Rongram area, a speeding auto rickshaw reportedly lost control and dashed the back of a parked dumper truck on Sunday night. The injured passengers were taken to Asanang health centre for medical attention.

On the same night, occupants of a maruti alto car and the rider of a bike sustained injuries when they collided head on at Balsanang Najing Bazar.
