
Shillong, Apr 27: The Assamese community of North Eastern Institute of Ayurveda and Homoeopathy (NEIAH) here celebrated Rongali Bihu on Sunday with a day-long programme.
The programme was inaugurated by NEIAH Rongali Bihu Sonmilan president Dr Bishnu Choudhury in presence general secretary Himanta Bikash Bora and other committee members.

Various sports activities, including drawing competition, running, music chair, blind spot hitting, spoon marble carrying etc., were also held as part of the occasion.
A traditional lunch was served to all the guests and participants, followed by cultural programme inaugurated by former NEIAH director and Banaras Hindu University dean (Faculty of Ayurveda) Prof PK Goswami.
An E magazine “Bohagi” edited by Dr Himangshu Baruah was inaugurated by state cabinet minister AL Hek, who said, “Bihu inspires everyone to connect themselves with nature.”

The cultural programme featured Bihu, Husori, various ethnic dances and songs by various artistes and melodious musical night by singer Rhubal, who captivated the audience with traditional rhythm.
Commissioner to governor Dr BDR Tiwari, NEIAH director Prof Vijay Kumar, Assam House Shillong commissioner Manjit Sonowal, GSI director DP Dangwal, senior medical practitioner Dr BR Medhi, and NEIAH deputy director A Wanshai Shynet were among those present on the occasion.
