Rs 90.11 cr pending in MGNREGA wages

Shillong, Aug 29: A total of Rs 90.11 crore is pending as payment dues under MGNREGA, revealed Community & Rural Development Minister Abu Taher Mondal on Thursday.

Providing the breakdown of figures in a reply tabled in the assembly, the minister said the delay between 129-212 days for the financial year 2023-24 amount to Rs 80.52 crore while it stands at Rs 9.59 crore with delay between 1 to 70 days for the financial year 2024-25.

The reason for delay, he said, is mainly due to non-linking of Aadhaar for Aadhaar Based Payment System (ABPS).

The minister also informed the House that the department is continuously monitoring and taking corrective actions.
