Dr. Mawlong highlighted alarming statistics, noting that East Khasi Hills ranks second among men and eleventh among women for having the highest number of cancer patients in India. She further revealed that out of every 100,000 individuals, approximately 200 are affected by cancer in east Khasi hills district.
