SGH DC demands fair banking services

Shillong, Mar 12: South Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner Sumit Singh has asked banks to provide free and fair services and sought better coordination among BDO’s, banks and MSRLS.

While reviewing the District Coordination Committee meeting for the quarter ending December 2024 at New Circuit House Conference Hall Baghmara on Wednesday, Singh- who is also the chairman – discussed issues related to KCC loans, SHG’s loans, VEC account opening, PWD person’s SHG’s account opening among others.

The chairman questioned bank staff for not conducting regular FLC’s while reiterating the need to deploy more CSP/ BC at various unbanked locations with a population of more than 2000.

The Deputy Commissioner also requested for the setting up of a Rural Self Employment Training Institute (RSETI) in the district for the empowerment of the rural youth.
