‘Shah positive about 2028 Natl Games in Mehgalaya’

Shillong, Jan 23: Chief minister Conrad K Sangma has sought the support of union home minister Amit Shah for Meghalaya to host the National Games in 2027.

“He gave a positive response. He was very keen that North East deserves to host the National Games after a very long stretch,” Sangma told reporters here on Wednesday.

The last National Games in the region was held at Guwahati in Assam in 2008, he recalled.

Sangma also mentioned about his recent meeting with Indian Olympic Association (IOA) chairperson.

“In that meeting we had a discussion about the national games being hosted by Meghalaya in 2027. It is happening in Uttarakhand right now and the next is going to happen in 2027,” he said.
