Shillong to host PM’s Rozgar Mela today

Shillong, Oct 28: Shillong will host a Rozgar Mela (employment fair) on Tuesday as part of a mega exercise to be led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s to distribute over 51,000 appointment letters to newly-recruited youth across the country.

The state capital will be one of the 40 locations where the prime minister will address the new recruits through video-conferencing.

The new recruits would be joining the Central Government across various ministries and departments, such as Department of Revenue, Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare among others.

Union MoS external affairs and textile Pabitra Margherita will attend the Rozgar Mela to be coordinated by Department of Posts, NE Circle, Shillong at State Convention Centre here.

“Rozgar Mela highlights the Prime Minister’s commitment to prioritising employment generation. It will empower the youth by providing them with meaningful opportunities to contribute to nation-building,” stated an official release.

“Newly appointed recruits will have the opportunity to undertake foundational training through ‘Karmayogi Prarambh,’ an online module available on the iGOT Karmayogi portal. Over 1400 e-learning courses are available which will equip recruits with essential skills to serve in their roles effectively and work towards building a Viksit Bharat,” it added.
