Shillong to witness power shutdown

Shillong, Oct 28: Various parts of Shillong and its suburbs will witness scheduled power shutdown for up to seven hours over the next three days.

Announcing this on Monday, Meghalaya Power Distribution Corporation Limited (MePDCL) said it had to resort to the shutdown to facilitate major maintenance works at 33/11 KV sub-station.

The power shutdown is set to take place from 10 am to 5 pm on October 28, October 31, and November 4. However, power supply may be restored earlier than scheduled, depending on the completion of the maintenance work.

MePDCL has issued this notification to inform residents and businesses in the affected areas to make necessary arrangements during this period.

The 33/11 KV Lapang will be carried out on Tuesday (October 28) and the affected areas due to power shutdown from 10 am to 5 pm include the whole of Lapalang, Supercare Hospital, Law-U-Sib, Forest & Environment Office, MTC Workshop, Monitoring Station & Wireless Office.

Whole of Rynjah, Rynjah Police Station, Pohktieh, parts of Jelly Shop, Children Hospital,Dumdum, part of Nongthymmai Nongshiliang, Umpling Dongumbah, Umpling Lapalang Dongshaneng, Umpling Parmaw, Umpling Dongsurok, whole of Nongrah and Mawlynrei, parts of Pohkseh, parts of Lum Ïawblot.

Similarly, due to maintenance work of 33/11 KV Nongthymmai from 10 am to 5 pm on October 31, power shutdown will affect parts of Laitumkhrah, parts of Nongthymmai, parts of Lawjynriew, parts of Nongrim Hills, parts of Dhank-heti, Cleve Colony, Risa Colony, Wahdienglieng, Lumpyngnad, Lumsohphoh, Motinagar, Springside, Golden Estate, parts of Nongshilliang, Demthring, parts of Madanrting.

On November 4, maintenance works of the 33/11 KV SE Falls sub station from 10 am to 5 pm will be taken up and the power shutdown will affect areas such as Nongmensong, parts of Golfink, parts of Pynthorumkhrah, AIR Quar-ter I & II, Revenue Block, parts of Pohkseh, Nongrim Road, Nongrim Maw, Lower Nongrim Hills and adjoining area, parts of Laitumkhrah, Nongthymmai Nongshilliang, M.E.S (SE Falls), Goraline, Lumsohra, Arbutnoth Road, Naza-reth Hospital, Bhatt Colony, New Colony,R R Colony, Rynjah Society, Umpling Dongsharum, Umpling Lumdiengmet, Umpling Central, Umpling Dongumbah, Rynjah Quarter I&II, IGCRPF 4th Furlong, NEEPCO, 5th Furlong, parts of Bishop Cotton Road, Assam Rifles Signal Unit.
