Shylla resents ‘unproved’ drugs slur

Shillong, Sept 4: In the wake of reported allegations about involvement in drug trade, cabinet minister Kyrmen Shylla on Tuesday said the law will take action against anybody involved in drug trafficking.

However, Shylla said, the law must also take action against those making allegations without evidence that he was involved in drug trafficking.

“It is not right for anyone just to accuse any member of ruling or opposition or even the public without proof that s/he is involved in drug trafficking,” he said.

Asked about the Leader of Opposition Mukul Sangma’s decision to write to the Prime Minister against drug trafficking, Shylla said, “If they were found to be false allegations, I believe the court should also take action against those people who are making allegations without proof.”

Shylla said the government’s stand is very clear that anyone involved in drug trafficking won’t be spared.
