SPL 2024: Samborwell’s double secures Laitkor’s win over Sawmer

Shillong, Jan 29: Laitkor SC claimed a 2-1 victory over Sawmer SC in the OC Blue Shillong Premier League (SPL) 2024 match held at the SSA Stadium, First Ground, Polo, on Tuesday.

Samborwell Mynsong was the star of the show, netting twice in the opening 20 minutes (5’, 18’). Sawmer responded with a goal from Shanmeiaki Warlarpih in the 32nd minute, but neither side could add to the scoreline for the remainder of the match.

This win marked Laitkor’s second over Sawmer this season, having defeated them 2-0 in the first leg on October 28. It also extended Laitkor’s strong form in the second leg, following their emphatic 4-0 win against Nongthymmai SC just five days ago.

Laitkor now sit fourth in the league standings with 16 points, coming from five wins, one draw, and five losses. Meanwhile, Sawmer are enduring a difficult run, with this being their fifth consecutive defeat. They remain in seventh place with 11 points, earned from three wins, two draws, and six losses.

Nongthymmai SC will face Langsning FC on Wednesday at 2:30 PM in the next SPL 2024 clash.
