Shillong, June 12: Sports minister Shakliar Warjri on Thursday paid surprise visits at the under-construction Nagrasket Football Turf and International Stadium at Ampati, as part of an exercise to improve sports facilities across the state, especially in rural and aspiring districts like South West Garo Hills.
Expressing dissatisfaction of the quality of work at the Nagrasket turf, the minister directed State Sports Council Meghalaya (SSCM) officials to initiate immediate renovation work.

He also instructed that the upgraded turf must be handed over to the district sports office and the Football Association of Ampati for effective management and public use.
During his visit to International Stadium site, the minister expressed dissatisfaction with the pace and quality of ongoing work and ordered strict supervision to ensure maintenance of standard and timelines in the remaining work.

He emphasised importance of maintaining quality in sports infrastructure to nurture local talent and promote sports culture in the region.
Warjri accompanied by additional South West Garo Hills deputy commissioner Dolrich BG Momin, district sports officer Saljagring M Marak, SSCM assistant engineer, and other district officials.
