SSA teachers to discuss key demands on Oct 6

Shillong, Oct 3: Several pending demands of SSA teachers will be discussed during a general body meeting of the Meghalaya SSA Schools Association (MSSASA) at Malki ground here on October 6.

MSSASA’s key demands include regularisation of services, and implementation of a pay structure with enhanced salary for over 14,000 SSA teachers in the state.

“We will discuss the issues which the association has been pursuing with the state government for its necessary consideration,” MSSASA president Aristotle Rymbai said on Friday.

The association will also discuss the Supreme Court’s recent order making it mandatory for in-service teachers to clear the teachers’ eligibility test (TET).

Meanwhile, over 3,332 SSA schools in Meghalaya have submitted No Objection Certificates (NOCs) to hand over their management to the state government, out of a total of 5,131 SSA schools in the state.

Of this, there are 298 religious and private managed SSA schools.
