State depts to meet on price rise control soon

Shillong, Oct 31: A workshop was held in the city to strengthen the Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs department’s price monitoring system to keep track of daily prices of essential commodities.

Speaking at the event which was held at the main conference hall of the Meghalaya Secretariat on Wednesday, Food & Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Minister Comingone Ymbon Ymbon highlighted the importance of stabilizing prices and informed that a meeting was held to discuss the role of various department in regulating the market.

Chairing the ‘One-Day Workshop on Strengthening of Price Monitoring System’, Ymbon said the meeting resolved to bring together all relevant departments together for a comprehensive discussion as price rise affects not only the Food and Civil Supplies department but other departments as well. 

“We had a workshop to strengthen the price monitoring cell. We thoroughly discussed this issue with all the Deputy Commissioners present here. I don’t want the prices to rise excessively, which is why I called for this workshop,” said Ymbon.

He however, said the meeting will take place after the upcoming Gambegre by-elections.
