Meanwhile, Tourism department will release the state’s tourism calendar in the next two weeks or so, Lyngdoh told reporters on Friday.

The visits by iconic figures help project Meghalaya as the ultimate tourist destination, he added.

Informing about a process of engaging ‘tourist buddies’, he said, “We have already advertised (for tourist buddies). We will be able to immediately engage 50 tourist buddies and we will begin with the state capital. The sites will include Ward’s Lake, Golflink and Khyndailad.”

Meanwhile, Lyngdoh informed that all work pertaining to construction of the vending zones has been completed for rehabilitation of over 200 vendors.

“We should be able to see beginning with Khyndailad,” he said.
