Shillong, Mar 21: The state government will give priority to setting up a state-of-the-art veterinary hospital at Upper Shillong, said minister in-charge Animal Husbandry & Veterinary AL Hek on Friday.
Two-three proposals have been sent to the planning department on the matter, he said.
Informing about some queries from Planning department, he said the queries were replied satisfactorily during the recent budget session.
“It was clearly mentioned that state-of-the-art veterinary hospital is coming up at Upper Shillong… so it has to be taken on priority,” he said.
On cattle smuggling, the minister said he came across two-three cases in Jaintia Hills and East Khasi Hills where BSF had seized illegal cattle and handed them over to the police.
He, however, said, “People are doing business and how can we stop them?”
“Of course, I am not denying that… but that completely depends on the traders… that is why police and BSF are vigilant to look into this,” he added.
