Stree 2 Box Office Collection Day 19: Horror Comedy Crosses ₹500 Crore in India

Mumbai, Sep 3: Stree 2, directed by Amar Kaushik, has become a massive box office hit, crossing the ₹500 crore mark in India on its 19th day of release. The sequel to the 2018 hit Stree reunites the original cast, including Rajkummar Rao, Shraddha Kapoor, Abhishek Banerjee, Pankaj Tripathi, and Aparshakti Khurana.

Film trade analyst Taran Adarsh shared the latest box office figures on Tuesday, highlighting the film’s strong performance even on weekdays. “Stree 2 is rock-steady at the box office, firmly holding its ground on a working day [third Monday]… Mass circuits – particularly non-national chains plus single screens at tier-2 and tier-3 centres – are driving its business… expected to enjoy a smooth, uninterrupted run right till Dussehra,” he tweeted. The weekend box office collections were impressive, with ₹9.25 crore on Friday, ₹17.4 crore on Saturday, ₹22.1 crore on Sunday, and ₹7.05 crore on Monday, bringing the total to ₹509.4 crore in India.

Stree 2 shifts focus from the female ghost of the original film to a new antagonist, Sarkata, a headless villain with ties to the titular character. The plot centers around Sarkata abducting women who speak up for themselves. In a pivotal scene, Sarkata destroys the statue of Stree, the protector of Chanderi, signaling the start of his reign of terror.
