SWGH DC inspects ongoing projects in Rerapara block

Shillong, Oct 15: In a continued effort to ensure good governance and the effective utilization of public resources, the Deputy Commissioner of South West Garo Hills Hema Nayak undertook an extensive inspection tour of the Rerapara Community and Rural Development (C&RD) Block on Tuesday.

Accompanied by the BDO of Rerapara, Shri Armand Ch Momin, and officials from various line departments, the Deputy Commissioner began her visit with an inspection of the newly constructed Block Office building. The facility was found to be completed and ready for inauguration.

During the visit, the DC also assessed the status of the Manchak Integrated Village Cooperative Society (IVCS) projects at Dengnakpara, implemented under the Meghalaya Basin Management Agency (MBMA). She expressed concern over the shoddy implementation of the project and advised the IVCS leaders to speed up the work and accordingly submit the UC of funds utilized for the project.

In Samandalgre village, the DC visited the newly constructed 60-meter-long suspension bridge over the Dilni River. She expressed satisfaction with the project, noting how the bridge has become a vital link for over 10 villages on both sides of the river. While in the village, she also visited the government LP School and the local Anganwadi Centre, where she interacted with teachers, students, and Anganwadi workers, inquiring about the health and well-being of children under their care.

At Rongchadenggre village, the Deputy Commissioner inspected the ongoing construction of the Health & Wellness Sub-Centre in the presence of medical staff, village authorities, and members of the Village Health Council (VHC). She discussed the progress of the project and engaged with stakeholders to understand challenges on the ground.

The final leg of her visit took her to Gambagre village near Tura, where she inspected the Anganwadi Centre and interacted with the Child Development Project Officer (CDPO), supervisors, Anganwadi workers, local mothers, and male community members. She also joined the children during their midday meal, reinforcing the administration’s commitment to community engagement and child welfare. Additionally, the DC inspected the under-construction Gambagre Mini Stadium and reviewed the infrastructure needs with sports department officials to ensure timely completion.

Such field visits by the district administration are vital for monitoring ongoing development initiatives, identifying gaps, and accelerating project implementation—especially in remote and rural areas.
