Teen held in Malki rape case

Shillong, Sept 1: The Laitumkhrah police have arrested a 19-year-old in an alleged rape case that occurred in Malki, in the city, on Saturday. 

The other accused is still absconding, informed police.

Acting on a complaint filed by the victim at the Laitumkhrah Police Station on Saturday night where she named the two, police apprehended one of the accused, identified as 19-year-old Andy Malngiang. The second suspect, Kitbok Reuben Mawthoh, remains absconding. 

Malngiang has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days under Sections 351(3) and 70(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) of 2023.
