Shillong, Jan 27: The tender for expansion of Shillong Airport at Umroi will be floated soon, said deputy chief minister in-charge Transport Sniawbhalang Dhar on Monday.

“We will be floating tender for airport expansion very soon,” he said

He, meanwhile, assured that the proposed expansion would not affect the present runway and that it would not be disturb the landing of flights.

Asked, Dhar said chief minister Conrad K Sangma had already called a meeting at his level along with defence and airport authorities.

“Everything is clear. We are just planning to move with the work only. Hopefully within two-and-a-half years, big flights will land in Shillong Airport and it would be a big game changer for Meghalaya,” he added.
