Top Maoist separatist leaders of KCP (PWG) caught from ISBT in Guwahati

Guwahati, March 21: In a significant breakthrough against insurgency in the Northeast, Guwahati City Police apprehended two key members of the Kangleipak Communist Party (People’s War Group–KCP PWG), a Maoist separatist militant outfit active in Manipur. The arrests took place on Thursday night at the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Gorchuk, disrupting the group’s extortion and arms smuggling network.

The individuals arrested have been identified as Meisnam Bungochouba Singh (42): A known arms supplier, he is the son of Meisnam Kiran Singh and a resident of Haotak Tampha Khunou under Kunbi Police Station in Bishnupur district and Techsa Ibomcha Singh (42): A senior commander of KCP (PWG) with multiple cases of extortion and arms-related offences. He is the son of Late Aungouba Singh and a resident of Pukhao village under Sagolmang Police Station in Imphal East district.

The operation was carried out with precision following intelligence inputs from Gajraj Military Intelligence. Authorities believe the arrests have thwarted potential threats posed by the militant group, which has been involved in armed insurgency, extortion, and illegal activities in Manipur and beyond.

The police are now investigating the duo’s links to other extremist groups and their recent activities. The police have also intensified their crackdown on insurgent networks operating in the region.
