Traders scuffle ends with murder in Tura market

Tura, Jan 7: A verbal altercation between two non tribal traders on the streets of Tura bazar on Tuesday morning ended gruesomely after one of them was stabbed with a dagger leading to his death.

According to Tura police, the incident took place at around 11:25 AM when the two traders, uncle and nephew dealing in arecanut sale, indulged in a verbal feud that soon escalated into a physical altercation wherein the nephew Minural Islam (24 years) stabbed his uncle Jaha Uddin with a dao ( dagger).

Bleeding profusely from the wound inflicted on his stomach, Jaha Uddin was taken to Tura Civil Hospital but couldn’t be saved.

Police have arrested the accused Minurul Islam and also seized the murder weapon.

The arrested murder accused hails from Hajirhat, Sukchar in South Salmara of Assam, while the victim belonged to Singimari, Assam and had been staying on rent in the Rishipara locality of Tura to conduct his trade.

The altercation that led to murder was reportedly over business rivalry.
