Train services in Lumding-Badarpur likely to resume saturday

Guwahati, Nov 1: Train services through the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section are expected to resume by Saturday afternoon, as workers are repairing the railway track following the derailment of a goods train.

The derailment occurred around 4 a.m. on Thursday when a loaded wagon derailed inside Tunnel No. 2 near Mupa in Dima Hasao district, disrupting services along this crucial route. The incident forced Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) authorities to cancel or reschedule multiple trains.

NFR officials have assured that repair and restoration work is proceeding rapidly, with senior railway officials present at the site to monitor progress. “Normal train movement is expected to be restored tomorrow afternoon,” stated an NFR official, highlighting the swift efforts to minimize disruption for passengers.

As a result of the derailment in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section, several train services have been cancelled or partially terminated. The trains which have been cancelled: 05627: Guwahati to Agartala, No. 05697: New Jalpaiguri to Guwahati, 15617: Guwahati to Dullabcherra, 15611: Rangiya to Silchar, 15612: Silchar to Rangiya, 15615: Guwahati to Silchar (commencing journey on November 2), 15616: Silchar to Guwahati (commencing journey on November 2), . 14619: Agartala to Firozpur Cant. (commencing journey on October 31), 07029: Agartala to Secunderabad (commencing journey on November 1) and 13176: Silchar to Sealdah (commencing journey on November 1).

Additionally, 12503 SMVT Bengaluru to Agartala Humsafar Express (commencing journey on October 29) will be short-terminated in Guwahati, remaining partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala, 13173: Sealdah to Sabroom Kanchenjunga Express (commencing journey on October 31) will be short terminated at Lumding and remain partially cancelled between Lumding and Sabroom, 20502: Anand Vihar Terminal to Agartala Tejas Rajdhani Express (commencing journey on October 30) will be short terminated in Guwahati, remaining partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala and 12507: Thiruvananthapuram to Silchar (commencing journey on October 29) will be short terminated in Guwahati, remaining partially cancelled between Guwahati and Silchar.

Finally, 12508: Silchar to Thiruvananthapuram (commencing journey on October 31) has been rescheduled to start at 9:50 PM on November 1.

In response to the short termination of 12507 Aronai Express in Guwahati due to ongoing restoration work in the Lumding-Badarpur Hill section, arrangements have been made to assist affected passengers. A spokesperson from the Lumding Division of NF Railway stated, “We have already made arrangements for bus services, as well as food and drinking water for passengers.”

Additionally, over 300 lunch packets were supplied at the restoration site of Mupa station, coordinated under the supervision of the senior DCM/LMG. These meals were intended for distribution among officials, staff members, and labourers working at the site.
