Two held for anti-India slogan in North Garo Hills

Shillong, May 17: Two persons, seen in a recent social media post shouting anti-India slogans, were arrested from different places in North Garo Hills district on Saturday.

An FIR was lodged against them – Silgring D Sangma of Chorebolbok village and Asbath B Marak of Chambildam village – by the district administration on May 15.

Earlier, the video posted from the Facebook account Silgring D Sangma went viral in social media platforms and through messaging apps such as WhatsApp.

In the video, the duo can be seen shouting in Garo language with words of religious hatred and sloganeering against India. They were also seen supporting and provoking attacks against India by Pakistan, according to police.

The content of the video is against the sovereignty and integrity of India, especially looking at the sensitivity of the current situation, police said.

Further investigation is going on.
