Two women arrested for forcing 12-year-old girl into prostitution in Rajkot

Rajkot, Sep 17: Two women were arrested for allegedly forcing a 12-year-old girl into prostitution in Rajkot after promising her a catering job, a police official said on Thursday.

Accused Rekha Sagathiya and Alpa Galchar lived near the minor’s house and approached her on September 11 with an offer of a catering job for Rs 500, Assistant Commissioner of Police B V Jadav said.

The duo allegedly took the minor to a place where she was forced into prostitution, he said.

On September 14, the minor told her mother that she had been forced into prostitution for four days, following which a case was registered under Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act, Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and The Immoral Traffic (Prevention) Act.

Both the accused were arrested on Wednesday and further investigation is underway, police said. (PTI)
