‘UDP staying away from bypoll’

Shillong, Oct 29: The UDP, ally of the NPP-led MDA government, has not played any role in electioneering for the Gambegre bye-election slated for November 13.

“We are staying away…we have nothing to do with the bypoll,” said UDP leader and cabinet minister Paul Lyngdoh on Tuesday while responding to a query if the UDP would support the NPP candidate in the bye-election.

“Our presence in the Garo Hills is still very limited. Therefore, it makes no sense for us to be part of this bye-election process,” he added.
