UKPO president, BDO lead development push in Assam’s Khasi village

Guwahati, April 1: In a concerted effort to address local grievances and accelerate development, United KLhasi People’s Organisation (UKPO) president Pynshngainlang Rattane and Block Development Officer (BDO) Rita Millickpi visited Khasi Village Dhansiri (Khasia Basti) in Assam’s Karbi Anglong district.

Accompanied by Gramsevak Komol Kro, the officials interacted directly with villagers to understand their concerns and explore ways to implement essential government schemes.

The visit focused on improving access to basic amenities, infrastructure, healthcare, education, and employment opportunities. The officials conducted an on-site inspection to assess the availability of resources and identify gaps that need immediate attention. Discussions revolved around welfare schemes, road connectivity, clean drinking water, and livelihood enhancement programs to uplift the region’s socio-economic conditions.

BDO Rita Millickpi reassured the villagers that their concerns would be taken up with urgency. She emphasized the need for collaboration between the local administration and the community to ensure sustainable development.

A notable moment came when Alien Chongloi, president of the local polling station, expressed surprise at the overwhelming community participation during the discussions. “The enthusiasm and involvement of the villagers today were truly unexpected. It shows a strong desire for change and progress,” he remarked.

The visit was not limited to Dhansiri Khasi Village but also took into account the concerns of neighbouring villages, ensuring a broader impact of government development efforts. The engagement has been hailed as a positive step towards ushering in meaningful change, with officials committed to ongoing dialogue and action plans to improve living conditions for the Khasi people.
