2024 Best Tourism Villages Competition

Shillong, Sept 28: It’s another feather in the cap for the state as two Meghalaya villages were selected as winners in the category of Craft and Heritage at the 2024 Best Tourism Villages Competition.

Making the announcement on the occasion of World Tourism Day, the Ministry of Tourism on Friday honored Umden and Mawphlang villages as winners in the Craft and Heritage category respectively during the award ceremony which took place at Vigyan Bhawan at the capital.

In the second edition of the Best Tourism Villages Competition, a total of 991 applications were received from 30 States and UTs, out of which 36 villages were recognized as winners across 8 categories of the Best Tourism Villages competition 2024.
