Vamos FC clinches Williamnagar Open Futsal crown

Williamnagar, April 29: The Williamnagar Open Futsal Tournament, organised by the East Garo Hills District Sports Officer in collaboration with the District Sports Promotion Society, concluded in grand style with an electrifying final match between Vamos Football Club and Chandmary Football Club at Rongrenggre Playground.

The final match was graced by PHE Minister and local MLA of Williamnagar, Marcuise N. Marak, as the Chief Guest, alongside distinguished guests including East Garo Hills Superintendent of Police Stephen Rynjah, Former Minister of Sports and Youth Affairs Billykid A. Sangma, Additional SP Anthony Ch. Momin, Principal of Rongrenggre Government School S. G. Momin, and others.

Speaking at the event, Chief Guest Marcuise N. Marak thanked the District Sports Officer for the invitation to witness the thrilling final. He informed the players about the government’s initiative to acknowledge sportspersons who perform well at national and international levels by rewarding them with government jobs. He advised all players to take sports seriously and give their best in every game.

Both teams delivered a magnificent performance, thrilling spectators from all corners, with the weather adding to the perfect atmosphere. The match was tightly contested, but Vamos FC ultimately clinched the title by defeating Chandmary FC 3–1.

Chusrang Ch. Marak of Vamos FC netted two goals, while Akim R. Sangma scored one. For Chandmary FC, Songanan Saiza managed to score their sole goal.

The award for Best Player of the Tournament went to Easter Salchang Ch. Sangma of Vamos FC, while the Best Goalkeeper award was earned by Balgrim G. Momin of Chandmary FC.
