VPP announces candidates for KHADC, JHADC polls

Shillong, Nov 14: The opposition Voice of the People Party (VPP) is set to field 27 candidates for the Khasi Hills Autonomous District Council (KHADC) polls while 24 have been selected for Jaintia Hills Autonomous District Council (JHADC) polls slated for next year.

Making the announcement on Wednesday, chairman of the VPP state election committee Dr Kara H Shen said the candidates were selected to represent the party across various constituencies in a move to ‘ensure clean governance’.

“The Voice of the People Party is confident that these individuals will be able to effectively serve the interests of their constituencies and contribute to the broader goals of the party which is to Revive, Restore and Transform Meghalaya,” he added.

Candidates for the KHADC constituencies are Matthew Makdoh for Nongpoh; Banrikus Nongsteng for Umsning; Bill Clinton Wankhar for Sohryngkham; Seiborlang Warbah for Mawkynrew; Kitbor Syiem for Nongkrem; Shemborlang Rynjah for Lyngkyrdem-Laitkroh; Manbhalang Thabah for Nongshken; Asanlang Wanswett for Shella; Dr. Rusievan Shangpliang for Mawsynram; John Thabah for Sohra; Aibandaplin L. Nonglait for Mylliem; 

Danny Langstieh for Laban-Mawprem; Winston Tony Lyngdoh for Nongthymmai; Lancaster Marbaniang for Mawphlang-Diengiei; John J Basaiawmoit for Mairang; Powell Sohkhlet for Pariong; Overlin Imiong for Langrin; Birbor Riangtem for Mawshynrut; Apkyrmen Lyngdoh for Jirang; Isynei Hinge for Umroi; Strong Pillar Kharjana for Mawkhar-Pynthorumkhrah; Denzil Raynard Chen for Jaiaw; Eddieson Kharumnuid for Mawlai; Banpyrkhat Nongrang for Nongspung-Sohiong; Pynkhrawboklin Kharjahrin for Mawkyrwat; Marbiang Nongsiej for Nongstoin and Boniroy L Lyngkhoi for Rambrai Jyrngam.
