Watershed Yatra held at Mawan

Shillong, Mar 29: The Watershed Yatra, organised under the Pradhan Mantri Krishi Sinchayee Yojana (PMKSY) Watershed Development Component (WDC) 2.0, was successfully conducted at Mawan under Mylliem C&RD Block in East Khasi Hills on Saturday.

The PMKSY-WDC 2.0 focuses on sustainable water resource management, land conservation, and improved irrigation efficiency to enhance agricultural productivity.

By integrating agriculture, afforestation, and water management, the program aims to create climate-resilient ecosystems while supporting rural livelihoods.

Hamletson Dohling, Adviser to the Chief Minister, inaugurated the Springtap Chamber, a significant step toward enhancing water conservation efforts in the region.

He mentioned that the government has a vision for the PMKSY initiatives and their implementation.

Later, attendees actively participated in the Shramdan (Plantation Drive), demonstrating their commitment to environmental sustainability.

Certificates were presented to recognise the efforts and contributions of water warriors and organisations toward watershed development.
