West Garo Hills District Badminton Association elects new office bearers

Tura, April 16: The West Garo Hills District Badminton Association has elected its new office bearers and advisory board members for the 2025–2028 term. 

The general meeting was held at the Indoor Sports Hall in Hawakhana. 

Sujeet P. Marak has been elected as the president, Walsang N. Sangma as general secretary, Bomverce Ch. Marak as working president, Sobin K. Sangma and Derlowekid R. Marak as vice presidents, Walshall M. Momin as assistant general secretary, Andyberth G. Sangma, Brainygo K. Marak and Mark Ch. Momin as joint secretaries, Salrak N. Marak as organizing secretary, Cassius D. Shira as assistant organizing secretary, Vikas Chongtham as publicity secretary, Bongacheng R. Marak as assistant publicity secretary, and Bandi W. Momin as treasurer. 

The executive members include Kennedy S. Marak, Tengchong M. Sangma, Omet G. Momin, Larry G. Momin, Rev. Nikki A. Sangma, Carlos D. Sangma, Gary Standley K. Marak, Chirag Agarwal, Mikkim J. Sangma, Gitchiak Bregim A. Sangma, and Snesdonee Ch. Marak. 

Advisory committee members are Proley M. Sangma, Coffpelsil R. Marak, Bhuto Tingring R. Marak, Rikrak Ch. Momin, Hasluck Sengkam D. Shira, Neil Armstrong D. Shira, Sengrang D. Shira, Tumba Ch. Marak, and Arup Nag.

The meeting also resolved to formally designate the District Sports Officer, West Garo Hills, as the Chief Patron of the Association, in recognition of the DSO’s vital institutional role in the promotion and development of sports in the district.

The meeting concluded with members pledging to work collaboratively toward the advancement of sports and community development in the region.

General Secretary Walsang N. Sangma expressed deep gratitude to the outgoing committee, particularly highlighting the contributions of former General Secretary Rikrak Ch. Momin, whose leadership was instrumental during a significant phase of the Association’s growth. He assured the gathering of his commitment to uphold the standards set by his predecessors and to work diligently for the holistic development of badminton in the district.

Advisor Proley M. Sangma echoed these sentiments, urging the newly elected team to remain grounded in the values of inclusivity, transparency, and professionalism.

Former General Secretary and newly appointed Advisor, Rikrak Ch. Momin, concluded the meeting with an inspiring address and pledged his continued support to the Association.
