Will adhere to party decisions, says Mylliem MLA

Shillong, Sept 10: NPP legislator from Mylliem Ronnie V Lyngdoh has said that he will abide by whatever decisions the party takes.

Lyngdoh, who recently joined the NPP after leaving the Congress party, emphasized that being part of the ruling party will facilitate his work in serving the people of his constituency and the state.

“I have learned a lot. We are here to serve the people. So I think being in the ruling facilitates or promotes what I would like to do for the people of the constituency and of the state.”

He also stated that the number of members doesn’t necessarily matter, as long as the issues are raised and articulated properly in the House.

When asked the reason he did not take up a starred question, Lyngdoh explained that it couldn’t be taken up in the House because it was sub judice.

“I was given a letter that the matter is sub judice so it is not being taken up in the House,” he said.

He clarified that there is no bar on ruling members raising questions or participating in motions and resolutions, but in this case, the matter’s status prevented further discussion.

Lyngdoh, the lone Congress MLA in Meghalaya, joined the NPP on July 30, effectively wiping out the Congress party’s representation in the Assembly.
