Williamnagar abattoir to see light of day soon

New veterinary dispensary at Samanda inaugurated

Shillong, Oct 5: PHE minister Marcuise N Marak on Friday announced that an abattoir will soon be constructed in Williamnagar, while addressing a gathering during the inaugurating of the new office building of Samanda Veterinary Dispensary in East Garo Hills.

Marak, who attended as the guest of honour, urged the villagers and the live-stock farmers to avail the facilities to be provided by the newly constructed dispensary and also to consult the veterinary officials so that better healthcare can be provided to the domestic animals. 

Inaugurating the dispensary, Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Minister AL Hek instructed officials of the dispensary to take responsibility of providing facilities to the live-stock farmers in the area.

Hek said that the functioning of the dispensary will be crucial to the people of the region. While highlighting the benefits of the dispensary to be provided to the people of the region, the minister urged the veterinary officials to perform their best.

Meanwhile, East Garo Hills Deputy Commissioner, Vibhor Aggarwal, while highlighting the facilities of veterinary dispensary, urged the livestock farmers to avail the opportunities while the Director of the Animal Husbandry and Veterinary, Dr CD Sangma said the dispensary was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.72 crore from NABARD under RIDF for the year 2021-2022.

Veterinary, Dr. AM Momin and the vote of thanks was proposed by the District Veterinary

Officer, Williamnagar, Dr RD Arengh.
